Balsamo Cafe, San Julian, Sonsonate

Balsamo Cafe is a Cultural Educative project oriented in the conservation of the balsam specie; we also show how the balsam resin is extracted. Balsam is a miraculous and very old plant which has existed from before the Spanish conquest and a plant that is now in danger of extinction.

Our property is located in the city of San Julian in the Department of Sonsonate. The road is accessible by car and there are signs to the entrance of our farm in San Julian.

It costs $2.00 per person, and children under of 8 years do not pay. This small fee includes: Tour guided by an agronomist with a specialty in plants, a cold natural drink, a brochure with the complete history of the balsam plant, a short video and use of our facilities.

Our small restaurant offers, sopa de gallina india( range hen soup), tortillas cooked on a clay grill, cuajada(fresh cheese) natural fruit drinks, drinks, coconuts and in the late afternoon you can enjoy our pupusas.

We also sell products made from balsam and local handicrafts

Balsamo Café is open to the public on Sundays only, opening at 11:00 am, the rest of the week we open only by reservation. If interested in making reservations or for more information please contact Sra Marina Leon at (503) 7886 0945 or email: balsamocafe@yahoo.com.
